Part 2. It is party time!

Lisa: Mark, I have a difficult task for you today. I must look like a million dollars.
Mark: Not so difficult considering your looks! I will do my best, though, to make you look stunning. Before we decide on a special hairstyle, tell me what the occasion is.
Lisa: I’m going with my boyfriend to a ball that my company is organising in Polonia Hotel.
Mark: It does sound like an important event. What are you going to wear on that special night?
Lisa: A classic black dress with a low-cut back and a long pearl necklace. I would like to have my hair pinned up.
Mark: OK, we will try a few versions to enable you to choose a hairstyle that you like most and that suits your dress. What would you say to a sleek, classic chignon? We could comb your fringe backwards.
Lisa: Any other idea?
Mark: The chignon can be slightly asymmetrical and we can raise your hair above the forehead slightly. This hairstyle looks very modern. In fact, in order to give volume to the chignon I will backcomb the hair at the roots.
Lisa: Backcombing? It sounds very old-fashioned to me.
Mark: Back-combing adds volume and enables to give the hair the right, full shape. If you keep your hair loose, you will look pretty too, more romantic. I can style it in subtle waves, or trim and straighten it using a straightening iron.
Lisa: I need to think about it…
Mark: I have another idea: a low chignon, just above the nape. We can plait the hair on the sides: it will be an interesting and elegant hairstyle.
Lisa: I see you have plenty of great ideas! I don’t think it’s as easy as it sounds.
Mark: It’s all about creativity and a sense of style. I like to pin hair, think of different styles. To be able to do it, you need a whole bunch of tools: pins, clips, elastic bands, hair slides, hair accessories, fillers, extensions. The finishing is very important, too. I use special shine styling spray and hold spray. It is important to remember that styling products must not weight hair down. The hairstyle is supposed to last an entire evening, but without being unnaturally stiff from excess hairspray.
Lisa: Mark, I rely on you entirely.
Mark: OK! Let’s start then!
